Legacy or planned giving is a wonderful way to support the things you care about most, now and after you’re gone.  For many donors, it’s also an important part of their estate planning. Legacy giving is a special way to commemorate the ties between you and New Directions Travel and create your own legacy.

Often people think of estate planning as something important to do, but it is often postponed.  However, working on your estate plans today can have many benefits, including the peace of mind from knowing that your wishes will be fulfilled.  When you include a provision for New Directions, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that in the future your loved ones or others with intellectual and developmental disabilities will benefit from your generous act today!

New Directions for people with disabilities, inc., invites you to join the
New Directions Legacy Society

The Legacy Society recognizes supporters who further our mission by naming New Directions in their wills or other estate plans. As a Legacy Society member, and in acknowledgement of your commitment to ensuring that individuals with disabilities have the same quality opportunities in life as others, you will be invited to special events, and you will also receive periodic publications in recognition of your support.

Your legacy can change lives. Make a lifetime commitment to support New Directions for people with disabilities, inc. and
help it continue to enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

A Gift of Retirement Funds, Life Insurance and Bank Accounts - Naming New Directions as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, IRA, life insurance policy, or bank or brokerage account is a generous way to make a legacy gift outside a will.  Like a bequest,‍‍‍ these gifts help ensure that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities have the same opportunities in life as everyone else. These gifts are easy to implement, and giving retirement funds is a tax-wise strategy for many donors.

Contact your plan or policy administrator for a change of beneficiary form for retirement and life insurance accounts.  For bank or brokerage accounts, you will need to complete the appropriate forms.

You will also need the following information:

  • Legal Name: New Directions for people with disabilities, inc.
  • Address: 5276 Hollister Avenue, Suite, 207, Santa Barbara, CA 93111 Telephone: (805) 967-2841
  • TAX I.D. Number: 77-0147768

If you have difficulty obtaining or completing your forms, please call Dee Duncan at (805) 967-2841,
    or Email: [email protected]

FOUR STEPS FOR GETTING STARTED

Preparing your estate plans does not need to be cumbersome or complicated.  Here are some steps to help you begin.

  1. Gather information about your assets, including retirement funds, bank accounts and real property.
  2. Think about the people and organizations that matter most to you and how you would like to provide for them.
  3. Think about whom you would like to serve as your executor or trustee.
  4. Meet with a professional.  If you do not have an attorney in mind, your local bar association can make a referral.
