Are you ready to step back in time to a simpler day when the music was lively and the dancing was spirited? Then join New Directions on this tour to the Sacramento Jazz Festival and Jubilee! Over this fun Memorial Day weekend we will watch and listen to over 600 jazz musicians from around the country and get down and boogie to some world-class music!
Performance sites in Old Sacramento range from the charming precincts of the refurbished riverboat Delta King, to the highly improbable Freeway Gardens, a parking lot under Interstate 5. Music is performed in tents along the Sacramento River, in the majestic California State Railroad Museum facilities, and in world-class hotels. The locations all seem to be infused by the spirit of Old Sacramento’s Wild West heritage, and attendees can really get down and get crazy!
While in Sacramento, we can also enjoy the other sites and activities the city has to offer. We can learn about the California Gold Rush and experience panning for gold at the Sacramento History Museum. Are you a train buff? We also might visit the California State Railroad Museum, a huge museum with 21 restored locomotives and lots of fun historical and train exhibits; we could check out our governor’s home with a stop at the State Capitol; we might also stroll through Old Town Sacramento and experience the feel of the gold mining days.
No matter what, there will be lots to do, see, hear, and experience on this fun-filled New Directions tour!
